Water.org

Water.org is a non-profit organization dedicated to solving the global water supply crisis. Since 1990 the organization has helped provide access to safe water and better sanitation for countless communities in developing countries throughout Central America, Africa and South Asia.

Since joining Facebook, Water.org has been able to raise awareness more rapidly and gain further supporters of their cause. Two of the organizations most successful fundraisers were launched from Facebook bringing in the support of approximately 15,000 followers. One fundraiser in particular was the national World Water Week campaign in which over 70% of the donations were brought in from Facebook alone. All people had to do to show support? Update their Facebook status with a message regarding the water crisis.

Currently, Water.org is running the “Change 10 Lives in 10 Days” challenge. By raising money for the just cause, you will be entered to win a trip to the current community the organization is working with to make a difference first hand. Water.org also added a feature which allows facts and memos to be posted on willing supporters Facebook or Twitter accounts to spread the word.
