The issue
with media’s audience is that we take the news for its word. When constant images
and stories of violence and destruction involving the Middle East are
broadcasted, that becomes the representation we grow to recognize.
Stereotypes are fueled by media. When media frequently portrays a group of
people in a certain way, it grows in to an unwanted depiction which inaccurately
summarizes an entire group of people. For instance, the only aspect media captures of
the Middle East is the anti-American extremists.
In the case
of the Middle East, I am not denying the extremist anti-American sect of the
Middle East. I am defending the majority of Muslims who are unjustly labeled and not associated with
the extremists. So in response to Newsweek’s Muslim Rage, I would like to share
